Models & Concepts

After all the research and sketch work has been done, these are the finished models that represent my concept ideas at the end of a project. All of these models where created in the workshop that I studied in through my education at Hillsborough College.

Art deco lamp design

In this project, I had to create my own inturpritation of an Art Deco lamp that wouldn't look out of place in a room apropriate to the years of this style. Whilst researching into Art Deco design and Art Deco lamps specifically, I had found that stained/translucent glass was very popular at the time. Although glass as a material wasn't available, I tried to recreate the same effect using acrylic with my own design.

For this project, the aim was to find an abandoned space and redesign it to give it a new lease of life. I completed this project with my close friend Mustafa. We wanted to try and be as unique as possible by trying to think completely out of the box. This is where our mystical maze design originated from. After extensive research and many sketch ideas, we finally came up with our final concept. We were really happy with the finished model and felt the balance of the modern bridge and layout, as well as the mystical trees and features, complemented each other perfectly.

Labled setup functions

This counted as my final project of my college education. It is my take on what a modern/future DJ setup should look like and what software and hardware wold be most appropriate for the job. When it came to the physical design, a key part of my approach was the mixer angle. One thing I found when I was performing for a long period of time with my own setup was the pain that I had from the angle of my wrists. Because my mixer design is tilted away, this helps for a straighter wrist which helps for comfort. My digital design was to have a camera set up with a curved screen where you can see yourself touching 'effect orbs' that triggered musical effects to your tracks in live play.
